Trem Azul Hostel em Belo Horizonte

The Trem Azul Hostel, previously known as Allbags Hostel and Hostel 300, was created in July 2013 after the owner Leo Lobato’s experiences with hostels during his travels around the southeast of Asia.

We are located in the iconic and traditional neighborhood of Santa Tereza, full of conveniences for you:

  • Only 350m to the subway and 10m to a bus stop;
  • 10 minutes away from the city center;
  • Safe and quiet neighborhood;
  • Close to supermarkets, bakeries, squares, and shopping areas;
  • Numerous nightlife options.

We accommodate up to 36 people in comfortable and well-ventilated bedrooms, with individual lights, fan and bed linen.

We offer a delicious breakfast as courtesy.

Santa Tereza and the Clube da Esquina

Santa Tereza is the most bohemian neighborhood in Belo Horizonte. It breathes culture and music, and it became well-known for the “serestas” (serenades) and musical gatherings.

The Clube da Esquina (“the corner club”), one of the biggest musical movements in Brazil, started in the 1960s, in Santa Tereza. Its members Márcio Borges, Lô Borges, Milton Nascimento, Beto Guedes, Fernando Brant, Marilton, among others, used to meet to play and write music at the corner of Divinópolis and Paraisópolis streets – only 3 blocks from the Trem Azul Hostel.

Santa Tereza was also the birthplace of other famous bands, such as Sepultura and Skank.

The singer and songwriter Telo Borges, who lived for many years in the neighborhood, used to say that “in all those corners there are many stories to be told”.

About the name Trem Azul Hostel

The Hostel’s name is a tribute to Lô Borges and Ronaldo Bastos’ song Trem Azul. We see the song as poetry – it’s not meant to be taken literally, but simply to be enjoyed, and its message to be absorbed in an individual way.

The Hostel is thus connected with the culture of Santa Tereza and Belo Horizonte.

Stay with us and you’ll have an amazing experience in the capital of Minas Gerais.

Testimonials

Look what our guests are saying about Trem Azul Hostel
